Tonight we recorded 4 drum tracks for the upcoming phase two session with none other than Daniel Glass of The Royal Crown Review who was fresh from his recent tour to Egypt. We recorded the tracks at Paul Hilton’s studio in north Hollywood. We adore Paul & Daniel!
Soon we’ll be taking Daniel’s drum tracks down to Laguna Beach to add many many more layers of sound onto them. Thanks for the technology Les Paul! What we have to work with is superb- he did a fantastic job!
Paul Hilton also played us a couple highly interesting songs that need to be buzzed about. The first song we heard sounded like a crisp, clean, intricately arranged piece from a 1930s British dance band. It was so fantastic that I thought it must be Vince Giordano but then I heard the voice of Janet Klein! Evidently this was a track from her forthcoming unreleased album. This album is by far the best album she’s ever put out. We were all REALLY impressed!!! The second song he played was marvelous as well. It sounded vintage but there was even a bit of sampling in there which surprised us- very cool! Janet Klein just keeps getting more awesome with time unlike other artists who seem to hit a peak and go downhill. We can’t wait to hear the rest of this album!!

HAPPY EASTER FROM MICHTO PELO!!! We took these photos at The Tallyrand diner in Burbank last night. It’s a terrific little joint from 1959 and not much has changed since then- right up our alley! We were there to discuss the upcoming Michto Pelo album phase II recording session & John Hatton’s album artwork for his new album, “Gospel Bop.”
Here’s our fast handed guitarist Tommy and the sinister Easter Bunnies. Clearly, these bunnies must be a joke unless we’re just characters living inside Stephen King’s mind:
John Hatton is an awesome dude and the greatest bass player in THE WORLD! “Spazz” plays bass for Michto Pelo, Brian Setzer and numerous other bands. We thought this gorgeous honey colored 1968 Chevrolet Impala in the parking lot ALMOST fit his style (a tad too modern)so we took a photo of him (& his doggie) in front of it:
Here’s a photo of Marie Fleur at Easter dinner the following night @ Clearmans Lodge. One of her favorite restaurants!
HAPPY EASTER!

FEB 30 2010: Michto Pelo records 9 tracks in Laguna Beach with the help of John Knott; a CalArts graduate and genius of sound. Tommy put his best foot forward with timeless guitar soloing. What the heck were they doing with all those guns though?!!! Find out at Marie’s Facebook page!
The session was packed with great energy. Tommy blasted us into outer space with his whirling guitar and echos of Django Reinhardt. Drum tracks were pre-recorded by none other than the drum master Daniel Glass of the world famous Royal Crown Review. A rollicking string bass was added by John Hatton of The Brian Setzer Orchestra. Marie Fleur of Jazzabilly Blues and The Model Millionaires provided the voice. The shining hero of the day was John Reynolds who peppered each track with his hilarious antics, whistling, banjo and National Guitar rhythm.
The sound geeks would’ve appreciated it. John Knott and Tommy used three different types of preamps to harness the sound;DW Fearn (with the Telefunken tubes), The Great River and the The Millennia.
The next recording session is only a month away and then the long anticipated album will finally be almost finished! After that, the Michto Pelo army will begin plugging in the solos of select gypsy and hot jazz greats from across the USA. This album will be a tribute to all the gypsies and the jazz babies alike. Michto Pelo loves to have fun! They will be playing at Hip Kitty on June 26th- mark the date
